Website and packaging design for Australian healthcare brand

10 March 2025

Retail packaging emphasises product function because shoppers need to see what the product is for

Nadu is an Australian-based brand that innovates in nasal healthcare and advocates better breathing.

Seeking expertise in brand building packaging design, the company recruited Stepworks for help with its CPAP mask support product line and website.

Homing in on ecommerce

The Nadu / Stepworks collaboration kicked off with an ecommerce website that expressed the multidimensional aspects of the brand to its B2B and B2C audiences.

In addition to the website, the brief called for a packaging design for products in the regulated healthcare space.

All aspects of the package design were required to be approved by the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA), Australia’s healthcare product regulator.

A meticulous packaging design process

The TGA mandated very specific requirements for every aspect of Nadu’s packaging.

Text on the label required approval for efficacy claims, descriptions and usage. Minimum font sizes and type colours are specified to ensure readability.

Achieving TGA standards while maintaining the aesthetic appeal of the brand took a number of revision rounds.

Multi-stakeholder sign-off

The Nadu packaging project meant aligning multiple stakeholders with different needs and objectives – among them, Nadu, the TGA, retailers, customers and the designers themselves.

A key challenge the collaboration addressed was adapting Nadu’s B2C branding to a clinical design solution for a new B2B2C line.

Stepworks also liaised with manufacturers to address production challenges. The teamwork ensured the packaging design would be reliably manufactured to a consistent high standard.

By balancing the perspectives of all the stakeholders, the project was successfully completed.
