Swire Pacific and B2B branding agency Stepworks add value to sustainability reporting

24 June 2020

Swire Pacific and Hong Kong branding agency Stepworks partnered for the third time to create the conglomerate’s online sustainability report.

Sustainability has strategic importance for Swire Pacific, who celebrate 150 years of doing business in Hong Kong this year. Their sustainability objectives include protecting the natural environment and fostering innovation, efficiency and growth.

Stepworks helped Swire Pacific develop a valuable stakeholder tool that is usable, interactive and customisable.

Open dialogue

Stepworks designed the website to be clear to navigate and easy to explore. Links to next sections promote the natural flow of information. Prompts to access related content knit together the report sections for this highly diversified group. Links to supplementary information broaden the user experience beyond sustainability reporting.

Customisable

With five operating divisions and a wide target audience it is a challenge to meet the needs of all users. Customisable PDF downloads address this directly. Raw data can be downloaded as a CSV file.

Building on the 2018 report, Stepworks designed the detailed materiality matrix as an interactive assessment map. This allows users to easily navigate material issues ranked by importance. Clear infographics convey the key messages of a complex subject.

Thriving together

Stepworks designed the website to match Swire Pacific’s Annual Report.

Copy editors ensured the readability of the extensive content. They reviewed external links to support consistent referencing and terminology across divisions, report sections and other publications.

Case studies were built to be easily shared on social media or via email. This creates an opportunity for users to spread awareness of Swire Pacific’s sustainability achievements.
