On 21 November 2023, leaders from Cambodia’s Hope School visited branding agency Stepworks in Hong Kong, to introduce their latest educational initiatives and community projects.

Stepworks is a long-standing supporter of the school’s mission to provide education to vulnerable children in the villages around Siem Reap.

Hope School’s 11 teachers look after 960 students in four schools: Siem Reap Hope School, Community Hope School, Praikol Elementary School and Sen Chey Elementary School.

Sharing progress

During their Hong Kong visit, the school leaders related their inspiring stories and experiences with the Stepworks team. 

The school’s initiatives extend beyond the classroom. These include the distribution of food packages to 445 families, meals for students and teachers, essential school supplies such as backpacks and uniforms.

In addition to constructing school buildings and a reading room, the group supports critical community projects. These include the development of latrines, and clean water wells and storage tanks. Providing clean water sources close to homes frees children from carrying water long distances and gives them the time to attend school. 

Opening a world of opportunities 

Attendees heard success stories of Hope School students, who have pursued tertiary studies in diverse fields such as law, business administration and cosmetology. The narratives highlighted the school's impact on individual lives and underscored the transformative power of education.

Stepworks has supported Hope School since 2014. As a gift on its 25th anniversary, the firm funded the construction of Hope House a student dormitory. This facility has been pivotal in enabling 30 students and young working professionals to reside closer to their place of learning.
